Why I Wish I Had Started Using Proposal Software Sooner in My Bookkeeping Business

When I started my bookkeeping business, I thought I had a solid plan. I had my services mapped out, my pricing structured, and a growing list of clients who trusted me to keep their finances in order. But there was one thing I didn’t anticipate: how much time I would waste just trying to send out proposals.

I assumed it was just part of the job—manually putting together each proposal, tweaking the wording, double-checking the numbers, and then chasing clients for a response. It was tedious, frustrating, and, honestly, a bit of a mess.

Looking back, I can’t believe I didn’t switch to proposal software for bookkeepers sooner. It would have saved me hours of work, made me look more professional, and even helped me win more clients.

The Proposal Headache I Didn’t See Coming

What really surprised me was how much quicker clients started saying “yes.” Before, my proposals would sit in inboxes, often ignored. But with the new system, I could see when a client had opened the proposal, and many of them signed off on it the same day.

Another thing I hadn’t considered was how much more polished my proposals would look. Before, my proposals were functional but basic. Now, every proposal was branded, visually appealing, and

structured in a way that made sense. It gave my business a level of professionalism I didn’t even realise I was missing.

The Time I’ll Never Get Back

If I could go back in time and change one thing about how I ran my bookkeeping business, it would be this—I would have started using proposal software  from day one. I wasted so many hours on a process that could have been automated. Hours I could have spent working with clients, growing my business, or, frankly, just having a life.

So, if you’re still stuck in the endless cycle of creating and chasing proposals manually, take it from me—there’s a better way. I only wish I had found it sooner.
