Notably, Virat Kohli is the only active cricketer who has been named one of India’s Top 5 Richest Cricketers for 2022.

CRICKETERS ARE CLASSIFIED AND CATEGORIZED INTO FOUR GROUPS:

  • Grade A+
  • Grade A
  • Grade B
  • Grade C

In summary, Grade A+ players will receive Rs 7 crores, Grade A players will receive Rs 5 crores, Grade B players will receive Rs 3 crores, and Grade C players will receive Rs 3 crores. Hardik Pandya has been relegated from Grade A to Grade C, with a Rs 1 crore yearly retainer, after requesting not to be considered for national selection after the T20 World Cup 2021 owing to his performance. Shikhar Dhawan has been slipped from Grade A to Grade C and is now only considered for One-Day International selection.

MARCH REPORT 2022 | INDIAN CRICKET PLAYER SALARY

The demotions, according to the March 2022 report, mean that the duo’s annual retainer earnings have been lowered by 80%.

Again, the aforementioned cricketers’ outstanding performance in the most recent match earned them a greater salary and helped them improve their Scorecard and Grade.

Aside from the BCCI annual salary, the players will get compensated for each Test, ODI, and T20I match they play.

An Indian player gets paid a predetermined match fee of Rs 15 lakh for a Test match. An ODI is worth Rs 6 lakh while a T20I is worth Rs 3 lakh. Those who do not make the starting XI are awarded half of the match money.

PRIZE MONEY

The prize money for reaching the final of the 2020 Women’s T20 World Cup was Rs 3.75 crore for the women’s squad.

After the 2021 Men’s T20 World Cup, in which India was eliminated in the group stage, the men’s squad got Rs 41.63 crore.

MATCH FEES

Match expenses change regularly since they are governed by the number of event sponsors and other factors. Men’s cricket events frequently have a significantly bigger number of sponsors than women’s cricket competitions.

An Indian male cricketer earns match fees of Rs 15 lakh for a Test match, Rs 6 lakh for an ODI, and Rs 3 lakhs for a T20I, according to a 2017 Cricket Monthly survey. A senior female cricketer is sometimes paid around Rs 20,000 per day, which is comparable to the earnings of an Under-19 male cricketer. Senior male cricketers, for example, get paid Rs 60,000 per day for each match.

EQUAL PAY – FOR AND AGAINST (AUSTRALIA CRICKET) (SMRITI MANDHANA)

“We must acknowledge that the revenue we earn is derived from men’s cricket.” I’ll be the first to say that when women’s cricket starts producing money, we’ll need the same thing. But we can’t say anything about it right now,” Smriti Mandhana said to reporters at a 2020 promotional event.

“I don’t think any of the teammates are thinking about the split right now since the only thing on their thoughts is winning games for India, bringing in crowds, and generating money.” That is what we are aiming towards, and if that happens, everything else will fall into place,” she explained.

The Australian cricket board pledged equal compensation for the women’s team following the 2020 T20 World Cup, and paid the women’s squad with 600,000 USD when they won the final to make up for the ICC prize money disparity.

“We want to demonstrate our commitment to equality by ensuring that any prize money collected by the Australian women’s side in the T20 World Cup is equivalent to that available in the event for men.” This will include, among other things, matching the prize money for the final, semi-finals, or group stage,” CA CEO Kevin Roberts noted in 2019.
