What made Ramanagara famous? It is the 70s superhit film Sholay. And because of this film it has earned its new name – Sholay hills.

Thi film is an action-adventure that is based on a dacoit – Gabbar Singh who has tortured the villagers of Ramgarh village. A cop then attempts to capture the dacoit but ends up losing his arms. And as a revenge, he hires two criminals to capture Gabbar Singh. And the film continues. In these the dacoit is shown to have it’s home. And naturally, when people climbed the hill, they could picture Gabbar.
How to get to Ramanagara Hills?
Ramanagara is only 50 km away from Bengaluru. It is a very well known highway connecting Bangalore-Mysore. You can find many buses that will leave from Bangalore and stop at Ramanagara. Or an alternate option is also available where you can hire a cab to the place and back.
You need to take a right turn when you reach near the huge Hanuman statue in Ramanagara town. The statue is on the main road. And try to avoid the smaller lanes that will suggest by Google maps.
Ramanagara does has its own railway station and from the station you can hire an auto to reach Ramadevara Betta. The nearest airporttto Ramanagara will be the Bangalore airport.

Rock Climbing On The Famous Sholay Hill
Ramadevara Betta Hills has definitely gained a lot of importance and all credit goes to the film that shoots in the place a long time ago. This hill is located in Sugganahalli in the Ramanagara district which is 48 kms from Bangalore. At the peak the hill is also has a small temple, called the Sri Pattabhi Rama Temple.
The Ramanagara Silk Cocoon Market
In Ijoor of the Ramanagara district, 40 kms from Bangalore, the Ramanagara Silk Cocoon Market is there which is one of Asia’s largest cocoon markets. Everyday, this market sells about 50,000 kgs of freshly cultivated cocoons. The market is spread over two acres and it’s a great place to shop for traditional silk artwork.
