Lab-Created Diamonds vs Simulant Diamonds: Complete Guide

Diamond, the world’s hardest mineral, has been used in jewellery for thousands of years. There are many different kinds of diamonds from which to pick. Natural diamonds, which are mined from the ground, are the most popular type of diamond. There are, however, other ways to obtain a diamond, such as lab-created or simulant diamonds. We’ll compare these three varieties of diamonds in this post and give you a sense of what they’re like.

The first option is a natural diamond. Natural diamonds are mined from the ground with the help of diamond mining machines. The price of natural diamonds will always be higher because they cannot be created in a laboratory. This means that it takes more effort to create a natural diamond than a lab-created diamond. Another disadvantage of natural diamonds is that they have no uniformity. They come in all shapes and sizes, making it difficult to cut into specific shapes.

Lab-Created Diamonds

A lab-created diamond is made by taking diamond seeds and heating them up at extremely high temperatures. These heated seeds are then placed inside a furnace along with a metal catalyst. Once the seeds are heated up enough, carbon atoms start bonding together and form a solid known as diamonds.

Mining Free

One advantage of lab-created diamonds is that they do not need to be mined from the ground. Instead, they can be created in a laboratory using only the resources needed to make diamonds. Because they are made in a laboratory, lab-created diamonds are much cheaper than natural diamonds. They also have better quality control since they can be tested before being sold.

Beauty & Quality

Lab-grown diamonds are beautiful but their quality is questionable. Some people believe that these diamonds are fake because they look too perfect. Others think that they are not real because they are cheap. The truth is that they are just as good as natural diamonds. It depends on how well the seed was grown before being put into a furnace. If the seed is grown well, the lab-created diamond will have better qualities than a natural diamond.

Value

Natural diamonds are usually cost more than lab-created diamonds. This is because natural diamonds are mined from the Earth whereas lab-created diamonds are manufactured in a laboratory. As mentioned earlier, lab-created diamonds cost less than natural diamonds.

Diamond simulated

Simulated diamonds are also called synthetics. Synthetic diamonds are diamonds that are designed to look like diamonds but not real. They are made using chemicals and heat. Simulated diamonds are often sold as imitation diamonds. They are very similar to diamonds in terms of appearance. However, they are not as hard as natural diamonds.

Cubic Zirconia:

CZ is a synthetic material that looks similar to diamonds. CZ is made from zirconium oxide and aluminium oxide. It is commonly used in jewellery due to its durability and affordability. While CZ does not have the same hardness as natural diamonds, it is still considered a diamond.

Moissanite:

Moissanite is another synthetic diamond material that looks similar. Silicon carbide and boron carbide are used to make Moissanite. Unlike CZ, moissanite is harder. It is also more expensive than CZ.

Lab-Created Diamonds vs. Diamond Simulants

There are many different types of diamonds including natural, simulant, and lab-created. Each type has advantages and disadvantages when compared to one another. Lab diamonds and diamond simulants vary in that lab diamonds are developed in laboratories and have the same characteristics as mined diamonds, whereas diamond simulants are manufactured in factories but are not regarded actual diamonds.
